The Vintage Afghan Maimana Kilim is a hand-woven rug made by the Maimana tribes of Northern Afghanistan. Measuring 2'9" x 3'11", this Kilim is unique in that it is a flat weave without any pile. Using a horizontal loom and a tightly interwoven warp and weft, this rug displays crisp geometrical designs. Due to their lightweight and soft texture, kilims were often used for various purposes such as sofa covers, drapes, pillows, table covers, wall hangings, and even as insulation against the harsh cold.
